The main shaft is precision machined steel with a Teflon surface for a combination of high strength as well as trouble free operation. The tensile strength of the springs and the materials all help to absorb momentum to ensure as smooth an impact as possible to increase reliability and consistency of the recoiling mechanism. 

Additionally, the new design of the shock buffer allows the selection for three levels of recoil stroke length by removing / adding buffers to tweak the firing cycle length / timing to your liking.
